i do agree that doing drugs makes you lame/boring/dumbed down, but i don’t think drinking does. drinking amplifies your mood. i don’t have to drink to have a good time but when i do drink i usually have a better time (probably because i’m usually with a large group of good friends every time i drink).

Both and I completely disagree with your assessment. It’s differing opinions, I just don’t like when people say ignorant things like this and expect their opinion to be right. Some people get along better drinking, smoking, taking mood enhancers, relaxers, downers, whatever. I have the morals I have for a reason, I’m never going to feel stupid for the way I’ve lived. I don’t want harmful chemicals including alcohol or tobacco in my body. I’ve been there, I’ve done that and I’m much happier now than I ever was drinking or smoking or anyone I see that drinks or smokes. Almost everyone I know drinks to escape problems, to try and loosen themselves up, be happier, more sociable. I can do that without quite easily. But I’ll also never say my opinion is completely right or good for everyone, just for me. No personal attacks.

Yes, I do. I’m not hardline. I don’t wake up every morning and put on Earth Crisis? This is like arguing complete semantics. I’m not sure what point you were trying to make with that, I meant more mood altering in the effects of taking drugs for recreational purposes. I’m not completely anti medicinal use, I even believe in medicinal marijuana use and the legalization of it. I feel like I haven’t made myself clear on this?

my point was that you said you have friends who drink to escape problems and that you can do that without easily. but you do take a mood altering chemical to deal with problems. not that i have any problem with using them. i’ve been prescribed lexapro, as we’ve discussed before. but i don’t trust pharmaceutical companies one bit, so i don’t take it anymore. as for marijuana, it serves as a much better anti-anxiety, at least for me. it calms my mind when it starts racing during an anxiety attack much better than a prescription ever did.

it’s just a difference of opinions. i’ve heard the edge argument a million times and it’s old to me. i wouldn’t describe anything i do as dulling life. quite the opposite. i don’t need any extra chemicals to have fun either, but that doesn’t mean i can’t enjoy them when i want.

That’s very true, and I’ve tried to make it a point to never tell people what they can and can’t put into their body. I just don’t like the insinuation that my life is lacking because I choose to abstain.
